LAFAYETTE, La.. -  The Troy Trojans enter the Sun Belt Conference Tournament having four players named to the All-Conference teams as announced by the league today.

“We are very proud of our players who were honored for their accomplishment this season,” coach Bobby Pierce said.  “The players selected from our team are very deserving and they should be very proud.”

Senior Bryan Miller and junior closer Josh Storm were named to the first team with catcher Beau Brooks and Michael Precise being named to the second team.

Miller, a native of Incline Village, Nev., is batting .404 on the season and is currently riding a 23 game hitting streak in which he is batting .563 with 15 doubles and 10 home runs.   In conference play, he is batting an incredible .466 with 21 doubles.

Miller currently leads the nation in hits (99) and doubles (31).

“Miller has been one of the hottest hitters in the country in the last several weeks,” Pierce said. “He has been one of the biggest reasons we have been successful to close out the season and he is also a strong candidate to be our fifth straight NCAA statistical champion.”

Miller is the first player in Sun Belt Conference history to win either the Player or Pitcher of the Week honor for three straight weeks.

Storm earns first team honors after having a season to remember.  He is now the single-season saves leader with 12 saves this season.  He set the new record this past weekend against South Alabama.

“I am glad to see Josh get the saves record,” Pierce said.  “Josh Dew was a great pitcher for us and he set the record last year but a lot of credit goes to Storm for how he has pitched this year.  He is the kind of guy who wants the ball in the ninth inning with the game on the line and he has shown us that he can handle it.”

He has a 2-1 record to go with a 2.02 ERA in 35 innings of work.  He has struck out 53 batters while walking 12 and giving up only eight runs.  He has picked up eight saves in conference play.

A product of Huntsville, Ala., Brooks has started 52 games this season with most of the coming behind the plate.  He is batting .321 on the season to go with 10 homers and 40 RBI.  He has thrown out 28 runners trying to steal this season.

“Beau is the kind of player that every coach wants on his team,” Pierce said.  “Beau has been a strong performer for the last three seasons and we are glad that he was honored as one of the top catchers in the conference."

Brooks began the year on a 17 game hitting streak (24 games dating back to the 2007 season).

Precise has played three different positions for the Trojans this season.  He has been an outfielder, a first baseman , and a designated hitter thus earning second-team all conference as a utility player.

“Michael has been solid at every position he has played for us this season,” Pierce said.  “He is also very deserving because he been a run producer and a home run hitter for us.”

On the season he is batting .303 with 11 home runs and 57 RBI.

The Trojans will play host team Louisiana Lafayette Wednesday night at 7:30 pm.
