Trojans Earn Win over Alabama A&M

TROY – The Trojans picked up a much-needed win over Alabama A&M on Wednesday night 8-0 and in the mean time got some work for their right-handed relief corp.
William Teal (2-0) picked up his second win of the season in only his second start. He tossed three innings and allowed just one hit with four strike outs.
The Trojans (27-10) were also able to get work for three other right-handed relievers – Thomas Austin, Chris Fisher and Nick Ward.
The trio combined to complete six innings and allow just one hit with seven strikeouts.
Todd McRae had a big night at the plate for the Trojans. The senior back stop knocked in three runs on two doubles to raise his season batting average to an even .300.
Adam Bryant and Josh McDorman also had a pair of hits for Troy.
Troy got on the board first in the second inning with a three spot. With out out, Tyson Workman, who made his second straight start in right field, was hit by a pitch. Kyle Brown followed with a double to put two in scoring position for McRae who ripped his first double into the left-centerfield gap to plate both.
Daniel Peterson reached on an error on the next play and after McRae was called out trying to advance to third, T.J. Rivera followed up with a laser double to the fence to score Peterson all the way from first and give Troy a 3-0 lead.
The Trojans added two more in the third on Brown sacrifice fly that brought Logan Pierce home and McRae's second double in as many innings chased home Tyler Hannah.
Bryant scored on a wild pitch in the fourth, and McDorman's double in the eighth drove in Peterson. Tyler Vaughn also scored in the eighth on a Blake Martz sac fly for the 8-0 advantage.
James Brown and Chris Thomas had the only hits for Alabama A&M. Eric Brandon took the loss as the Bulldogs fell to 8-26.
Troy is in action next on Friday when they host Western Kentucky in the first game of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series between the top two teams in the league standings. First pitch for the opener is scheduled for 6 p.m.
