Grymel Into Quaterfinals at ITA Championship

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team continued play at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championship, with senior Karoline Grymel earning a berth into the singles quarterfinals.
Grymel, playing in the main singles draw, defeated Tatiana Larina of Northwestern State in the round of 16 on Saturday, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Grymel will take on the fifth seed, Julia Jones of Ole Miss in Sunday's quarterfinals.
Winners of the singles and doubles draw this weekend earn automatic berths into next month's USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships in New York.
Also in action for Troy on Saturday was Rosaura Ramirez-Vega who won in the B singles draw semifinals over Emma Helisten of Tulane, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 to reach Sunday's finals.
In doubles play, Grymel and Lyubov Dorofeeva won in the round of 16 of the main draw over Northwestern State, 8-3, but fell to the first-seeded team from Alabama in the quarterfinals, 8-2.
In the consolation doubles draw, the Troy duo of Ramirez-Vega and Candela Munoz Giron won in the quarterfinals to set up a semifinal match with LSU on Sunday.
