Trojans Look for Fifth Win, Host UAB

TROY, Ala. – After taking down Alabama State on Sunday, the Troy men's basketball team (4-2) has a quick turn-around, with UAB (3-3) coming to town on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Trojan Arena.

Currently riding a three-game winning streak, the Trojans are looking to pick up their fifth win of the season on Tuesday, something they didn't do until December 20 last season. In fact, Troy has only won five games before December under head coach Don Maestri once, during the 1983-84 season.

Troy defeated Alabama State on Sunday, 66-62. Emil Jones led the team with 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals, something no Trojan has done since Will Weathers two seasons ago. Antoine Myers continued to show his ability to get to the basket and finished the game with 10 points, five boards and two assists.

UAB enters the game at 3-3, after dropping its last two games, against Illinois State and TCU. On Saturday, the Blazers were defeated by the Horned Frogs, 76-73, despite all five starters scoring in double figures.

The Blazers are led by Rod Rucker and Jordan Swing. Rucker is scoring 14.7 points per game and grabbing eight rebounds per contest, while Swing is just behind him at 13.5 points and 6.7 boards per game. The Blazers are also outrebounding their opponents, 41.3-36.7 on average this season.

Troy is 0-5 all-time against UAB, including a 71-59 loss in Birmingham, Ala., last season that saw R.J. Scott score a season-high 17 points.

The Trojans are currently in a stretch of four games in seven days, and will begin Sun Belt play on Thursday when they travel to Little Rock, Ark., to face UALR at 7:30 p.m.
