Julius Brown Named Cornerbacks Coach at Troy

TROY, Ala. – Julius Brown, who has spent the last five seasons at Boise State, has been hired as an assistant football coach at Troy and will work with the Trojan cornerbacks, Troy head coach Larry Blakeney announced Thursday.
“We are excited to have Julius join our staff,” Blakeney said. “We made a decision to bring in a guy that has played cornerback and coached cornerbacks, and he has been around a winning program and certainly a winning staff under Coach (Chris) Petersen. Julius has worked in recruiting and player development and there are a lot of things that go into being a good on-field football coach besides just experience on the field.”
Brown just completed his third season as Boise State's director of player personnel after two seasons as the offensive graduate assistant for the Broncos. He was a three-year starter and a four-year letterman at defensive back for the Broncos from 2000-03. Brown was a member of Boise State's 2002 and 2003 Western Athletic Conference Championship teams and helped the Broncos to wins in the 2002 Crucial.com Humanitarian Bowl and the 2003 Plains Capital Fort Worth Bowl. Brown was named an honorable mention All-WAC selection as a senior after leading the league in passes defended.
“I am very excited to become part of the Trojan Family,” Brown said. “Coach Blakeney and his staff have had a lot of success, and I am looking forward to taking what I learned at Boise State and bringing it to the table at Troy.”
Most recently Brown served as the on-campus recruiting coordinator for Boise State, organizing official and unofficial visits for recruits and their families. He also oversaw the football recruiting and scholarship budgets, assisted the director of football operations with summer camps, worked with the department's academic support team and represented the football program at campus and community events.
As a graduate assistant in 2007 and 2008, Brown worked with wide receivers and also served as assistant director of football operations.
Before joining the Bronco staff, Brown spent one season coaching defensive backs at Boise's Capital High School. At Capital, Brown helped the Eagles to the state playoffs.
Brown, a native of Stockton, Calif., is a 2006 graduate of Boise State with a degree in business administration.
