Five Trojans Named ITA Scholar-Athletes, Grymel Finishes Regionally Ranked

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced final rankings for the 2012 season as well as 2011-12 ITA Scholar-Athletes, with many Troy Trojans finding their names among the nation's elite.
Junior Karoline Grymel, an All-Sun Belt selection in both singles and doubles play, finished the 2012 season ranked 18th in the ITA's Southern Region singles rankings. Grymel posted a 13-7 mark in singles play last season, including a stretch of eight straight victories in March and April.
Grymel also performed well off the court, earning ITA Scholar-Athlete honors after posting a 3.51 GPA while majoring in international business. Grymel was one of five Trojans named ITA Scholar-Athletes, an honor given to players who post a GPA above 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Also joining Grymel on the women's side was her doubles partner and All-Sun Belt selection Lyubov Dorofeeva. Dorofeeva posted a 3.71 GPA while majoring in sport and fitness management in 2011-12. Grymel and Dorofeeva posted a 14-4 record in doubles play in 2012 while spending one week ranked in the ITA's national doubles rankings.
Three Trojans from the men's team earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, including Mansingh Athare (3.55, risk management insurance), Patrick Eichler (3.70, sport and fitness management) and Sami Ghorbel (3.66, mathematics).
