Womenโs Cross Country Earns Academic Honor

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University women's cross country team has earned USTFCCCA All-Academic status for the 2012 season. The team completed the fall semester with a cumulative 3.35 GPA.
“I'm happy to see that our women's team is rewarded for all of its persistent work in the classroom,” said cross country coach Jeff Jenkins. “This is a direct correlation to what I see on a daily basis with these ladies. It's one thing to maintain a good GPA in college, but to have a whole team put in the time and effort to excel in the classroom along with juggling a very taxing training regimen at the Division I level is beyond impressive.”
A team must record a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale and have at least five runners participate in the NCAA regional championship. The Trojans joined fellow Sun Belt schools Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, Georgia State, North Texas and Western Kentucky.
“These women have set the standard at Troy to be withheld for years to come,” Jenkins said. “Troy University is, and will continue to be, well represented long after their college days are done. I'm happy to be able to coach such an incredible group of women.”
