Danny Collins Named to ABCA All-America Second Team

TROY, Ala. – The honors continue to roll in for former Troy outfielder as he was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-America Second Team, the ABCA announced Tuesday afternoon.

The announcement comes one day after Collins made his professional debut for the Jamestown Jammers, the Pittsburg Pirates Class A Short Season affiliate. Collins went 2-for-4 in his debut, which included a home run in his first at-bat.

Collins has already been named to the Louisville Slugger and NCBWA All-America First Teams and to the Perfect Game and Baseball America All-America Third Teams.

The Niceville, Fla., native was a semifinalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy. Collins hit .360 with 25 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs, 68 RBIs, a .631 slugging percentage, a .452 on-base percentage and a 1.083 OPS.

He ranks sixth in the country in doubles, eighth in RBIs and 18th in total bases as the final eight teams head to the College World Series. Collins also ranks among the top 100 in the NCAA in batting average, runs, hits, home runs and slugging percentage.

Over his two seasons with the Trojans, Collins accumulated 42 doubles, 23 home runs and 120 RBIs.
