TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's basketball team opens its 2014-15 season against Brewton-Parker on Friday. The Trojans and Barons will tip off at 7 p.m., at Trojan Arena.
The game can be heard on the Troy Sports Radio Networks. Live stats will be available through TroyStats.com. Live video and audio will be available on TroyTrojans.com/watch. Fans can follow @TroyMensHoops on Twitter for live, in-game updates.
The Trojans enter their second season under head coach Phil Cunningham and are looking to build off of a 2013-14 season that included a win over Georgia State, who was previously undefeated in conference play, and a berth to the Sun Belt Conference tournament.
The Trojans return a mere three players to the squad this year, including leading rebounder Kevin Thomas, and sophomores Kelton Ford and Jordan Howard. Thomas was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt third team this season. The trio accounted for 19 percent of the 2013-14 team's points last year and 22.6 percent of the rebounds. Their three years at Troy makes them the least experienced team in the nation.

Troy adds nine newcomers to the squad and three returning redshirts. Of the nine, five are freshmen, three transferred from junior college and one is a fifth year Division I transfer from South Florida.
The Trojans were picked eighth by the league's coaches in the Sun Belt Preseason poll. The Sun Belt pool expanded this year as Appalachian State and Georgia Southern added to the mix.
Troy has an exhibition game under its belt after it defeated West Florida, 72-63, at Trojan Arena last Thursday. Redshirt junior John Walton III led the squad with 15 points and 13 boards against the Argos.
Brewton-Parker, a NAIA member, already has five games under its belt this season, posting a 4-1 record. The Barons are under first-year head coach Gavin Chapman. Junior Deion Bernard leads the squad, averaging 17.8 points per contest. Senior Thierry Lynn leads the team on the glass, averaging 8.3 rebounds per game.
