No. 63 Troy Opens With Loss at No. 36 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – The No. 63 Troy men's tennis team started strong and won the doubles point, but couldn't hold on in a 4-1 loss to No. 36 Louisville on the indoor courts of the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Pablo Moreno and Mustapha Belcora started the day with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles. After Louisville's nationally-ranked doubles team won at No. 1 doubles, Andy Lau and Giovani Samaha clinched the opening points for Troy with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
The Cardinals got out to a fast start in singles play, winning the first set in five of six matches. Samaha was the lone Trojan to win his first set.
Louisville's Jeffrey Brown evened the score with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles. The Cardinals then won at No. 6, No. 5 and No. 4 to clinch the match. After winning the first set, Samaha was in a second-set tiebreaker against Brandon Lancaster at No. 3 singles when the match was clinched.
Daniel Bustamante was also still on the court, playing at No. 1 singles, and was trailing in the third set, 6-2, 4-6, 3-1, to No. 108 Alex Gornet.
Troy now faces a quick turnaround and a long trip to take on No. 24 Florida in Gainesville on Sunday.
