Troy Sweeps UTSA to Set Up Showdown with No. 2 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Oklahoma – The No. 63 Troy men's tennis team opened action at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend with a 4-0 sweep of No. 66 UTSA. Troy will now take on host No. 2 Oklahoma on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT. The winner will advance to the National Team Indoor Championships.
Against UTSA, Troy (1-3) started the day with doubles wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to pick up the opening point. Andy Lau and Giovani Samaha won at No. 2, 6-4, and after UTSA won at No. 1, Pablo Moreno and Mustapha Belcora won at No. 3, 7-5, to grab the first point.
In singles play, Moreno got Troy on the board first as he cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. Samaha then made it a 3-0 Troy lead with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles.
Andrea Baldo clinched the match for Troy with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
Troy will now face No. 2 Oklahoma on Sunday, marking its fifth match against a ranked team in nine days to start the season.
