Cano Tied for Individual Lead, Troy Sixth Overall at Johnie Imes Invitational

COLUMBIA, Missouri – Troy senior Fátima Fernández Cano fired a 6-under over the opening two rounds of the Johnie Imes Invitational on Monday at The Club at Old Hawthorne. Cano is in a three-way tie for first place, while Troy is in sixth place and just six shots back of second.
Cano opened with a flourish as she birdied three of her first five holes en route to a 5-under 67 in the opening round. She finished the round with five birdies and an eagle around a pair of bogeys. Cano's second round was less eventful as she had a pair of birdies and a bogey to finish 1-under.
Missouri will carry a 5-shot lead over Fresno State into Tuesday's final round, while Kennesaw State, East Tennessee State and FIU round out the top five. Troy is just two shots back of both FIU and East Tennessee State, while the Trojans are four shots behind Kennesaw State and six back of Fresno State.
Bianca Lohbauer carded four birdies on the day as she rebounded to shoot even par on her second trip through the course after shooting 6-over in the first round. Lohbauer is tied for 41st place overall, while teammates Becca Horner and Lindsey Harrison are 1-shot back in a tie for 44th place. Horner turned in rounds of 74 and 77 with four birdies and an eagle on the day, while Harrison carded rounds of 72 and 79 with eight birdies. Gabi Oubre' rounded out the field for Troy in a tie for 52nd place after combining for 8-over through the two rounds with four birdies.
Troy, East Tennessee State and FIU will play together in Tuesday's final round and the grouping will hit the course beginning at 8:30 a.m. on holes 4 thru 7.
