Troy Set To Face AUM Thursday

TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's basketball team will host AUM in an exhibition game on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Trojan Arena. Admission is free to all.
The Trojans will start the season with two home games, Toccoa Falls on Nov. 11 and Eastern Illinois on Nov. 14, to kick off the start of the regular season. Following that, the team will be on the road at UAB, Eastern Illinois, San Francisco and Hawai'i.
Junior guard Wesley Person and sophomore forward Jordon Varnado were both recognized on the All-Sun Belt team. Person was chosen as preseason second team and Varnado garnered third-team honors.
Troy will be showcasing off a slew of new players, as both the guard and forward positions have benefited from an influx of talent.
Graduate transfer DeVon Walker will be playing in his first action for Troy after finishing his career at the University of Florida. The 6-foot-6 guard/forward will be joined by newcomers Juan Davis, Jr. and Kevin Baker as potential impact players right at the start.
NOTEWORTHY
• Person has the most consecutive games with a made 3-pointer in the nation. If he continues the streak for 29 more games, he will have the NCAA record, surpassing Cory Bradford of Illinois from 1998-2001.
• The contest will be the first game action for Alex Hicks. Hicks, who is still recovering from a knee injury, as been praised by teammates and coaches in preseason practice. The forward was a three-star recruit coming out of Glenwood Academy, where he averaged 15.1 points and 7.6 rebounds.
• Through four games last season, Varnado averaged 22.5 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game.
