Troy Soccer Announces Addition of Emily Stearns

TROY, Alabama – Head coach Jason Hamilton announced the addition of Emily Stearns, a transfer from Nova Southeastern University, on Monday.
Â
"I am excited to have Emily joining us, she is a player that I had recruited prior to her attending Nova," Hamilton said. "When I saw that she was interested in transferring, I said we have to get her. The Sunshine State Conference is a very good conference, and to see the success she had as freshman gives us the confidence that she can have an immediate impact at our level."
Â
At Nova Southeastern University Stearns had a very successful freshman campaign, starting 12 games and seeing the field in all 18 of the team's matches. Stearns ended the season with four goals and four assists, which was good enough for second on the team in points. Her two game winning goals helped the Sharks to a record of 12-4-2, and an NCAA tournament berth. Stearns was selected to the NSCAA All-South Region team.
Â
Prior to attending Nova Southeastern, Stearns attended Boone High School under head coach Brooke Humphrey Smith.  In her senior season she lead the team in assists and scored 14 goals while leading her team to a district title and earning All-Metro accolades. She also played for Orlando City in the Elite Clubs National League where she was a teammate of current Trojan, Lynsey Kelly.
