TROY, Alabama – Hannah Day drove in five runs and hit her seventh home run of the season as Troy swept a doubleheader on Sunday at the Troy Softball Complex. The Trojans defeated Austin Peay, 9-3, in the first game of the day and knocked off Mercer, 4-1, in the final game to finish the weekend a perfect 5-0 in the Trojan Warrior Tournament.

TROY 9, AUSTIN PEAY 3
Â
Troy's (11-4) bats started out hot and stayed that way throughout the first game against Austin Peay. Troy recorded 11 hits in the game and four Trojans had multi-hit games against the Governors. Senior Kate Benton was electric at the plate with three hits and one RBI. While Erica Davis, Hannah Day and Khadija Neely all recorded two hits in the game.
Â
The Trojans had a monster fourth inning scoring five runs. Neely got the inning started with a leadoff double down the left field line. Bailey Burk singled on a bunt and stole second to give Benton an opportunity to drive in a run. She answered with a single to second to score Neely.
Â
Davis got into the mix as she singled through the right side scoring Benton and Burk. Day followed with a single to left field to score Davis and the final run of the inning scored as Neely drew a bases loaded walk to push Troy's lead out to 6-0.
Â
Troy cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the third as Day singled home Davis. The final three runs were recorded in the bottom of the fifth when Winters doubled down the right field line bringing Day, Davis and Benton all around to score.
Â
Austin Peay played catch up the entire game scoring two runs on a Danielle Liermann double up the middle in the fifth and a single run in the sixth when Kacy Acree hit an RBI single.
Â
Senior Ashley Rainey (6-4) got the win for the Trojans in the circle as she allowed only five hits and two runs in five innings of work. Claire Graves tossed two innings out of the bullpen for the Trojans and allowed just one unearned run.
Â
TROY 4, MERCER 1
Â
Day sent a three run bomb over the left center wall to give the Trojans (12-4) a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth in an exciting final game of the weekend.
