Football Goes Under the Lights Friday for Second Scrimmage

TROY, Alabama – With Troy's T-Day spring game looming next weekend, the Trojans will go under the lights in Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. for their second scrimmage of spring camp. It will be Student Appreciation Night as one Troy student will have an opportunity to win a book scholarship and a DJ will be on hand to provide additional entertainment.
Â
"It is a chance for our guys to perform under the lights," head coach Neal Brown said. "It is a chance for some of these unproven guys – whether it is transfers, true freshmen quarterbacks or guys who redshirted last year – to see how they react when there are people in the stands and when we turn the lights on for the first time."
Â
Troy's first scrimmage of spring camp took place last Saturday as the Trojans spent half the day in a practice format before scrimmaging for the final half of the session. Friday's scrimmage will be more traditional in a sense as the Trojans will take the field and run approximately 80-100 plays.
Â
"We are going to work some situations throughout the scrimmage," Brown said. "We are going to incorporate some two-minute situations, some short-yardage situations and some goal line situations."
Â
The Trojans are scheduled to practice again on Sunday and Thursday before T-Day on Saturday, April 23. Kickoff for the annual Troy spring game is set for 12:30 p.m. and admission is free.
