TROY, Alabama – The Troy softball team fell to Texas State in the series finale, 8-0, in five innings on Sunday at the Troy Softball Complex.
Â
Texas State (27-16) came into the series finale with its bats blazing and racked up 10 hits on the day. The Bobcats jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first when Taylor Webb singled to right center and brought Corrina Liscano and Kimberlin Naivar around to score.
Â
The Bobcats added single runs in the third and fourth innings to extend the lead 4-0. A four-run fifth inning was all Texas State needed to end the game in five innings. Webb was back at it again when she singled up the middle to drive in Ariel Ortiz, and Kendall Wiley scored Liscano with a single of her own. The final two runs came on a walk and a sacrifice fly to ice the game 8-0.

Heather Johnston got the first Trojan hit in the second inning with a single down the right field line, Erica Davis contributed with a single in the fourth and the final two hits for the Trojans came in the fifth inning off the bats of Kate Benton and Allison Moore.
