AUBURN, Alabama – The Troy outdoor track and field wrapped up competition at the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn on Saturday.
Â
"The kids competed well this weekend," Marc Davis said. "We are at a very tough time of the year, but for the most part people are responding well to the training. We have our toughest two meets in a row coming up over the next two weeks. The kids have to be ready to step up."
Â
The meet was highlighted by Hakim Montgomery and Chandler Worthy, who did well in the 100-meter dash with a 10.45 time in the preliminary race. Montgomery finished with a 10.50 final time and a third place finish, while Worthy came in 11th place with a 10.55 time.
Â
Montgomery also ran the 200-meter race and came in ninth place with a 21.44 time.
Â
Both Tyson Robinson and John Webb shined in the 800-meter and 4x4 relays. Robinson came in fifth place with a 1:52.22 time – a season-best – in the 800-meter race, while Webb finished only two spots behind him with a 1:53.77 time.
Â
They also competed on the same 4x4 meter relay team and finished second, ahead of Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee and Alabama A&M. They finished with a 3:15.93 time.
Â
On the field side, Carisa Madson tied a season-best 3.55-meter pole vault. She finished 11th at the event.
Â
