Troy Baseball Hits the Road to Take On Texas State

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Troy baseball team hits the road to take on Texas State for a three game series at Bobcat Ballpark in San Marcos, Texas. The first game of the series set to begin on Friday night at 6 p.m.

Saturday's game will start at 3 p.m., while Sunday's game is slated for a noon start time. All three games will be aired live on 94.7 WTBF FM and will be available all weekend at TroyTrojans.com.

Troy (23-18, 9-9 Sun Belt) looks to bounce back after it dropped a home series to UT Arlington last weekend. Joey Denison lifted the Trojans to a 5-2 victory in the Friday night game with an inside the park home run.

Denison is currently batting .299 with a team-high five home runs, 11 doubles and 23 RBIs. Trevor Davis is the other Trojan with a team-high 23 RBIs and is batting .287 on the season.

TJ Binder has seen his average steadily improve to what is now a team-best .375 batting average. Binder has eight doubles, one triple and three home runs with 16 RBIs this year.

The Trojan pitching rotation has a slight change from last week, as Lucas Brown will throw on Saturday, while Houston Mabray will toss on Sunday. Grant Bennett will get the start on the mound for Friday night's game. The three pitchers combined have 14 wins with 120 strikeouts.

Texas State (22-20, 10-8 Sun Belt) dropped its series last weekend against UL Lafayette. The Bobcats are lead offensively by Tanner Hill, who has a team-high .325 batting average, 13 home runs and 29 RBIs.

Texas State will throw Lucas Humpal on Friday, Cory Geisler on Saturday and Jonathan Hennigan on Sunday. Those three have 11 combined wins and 148 strikeouts. Humpal leads the way with five wins and 64 strikeouts.

Troy and Texas State are tied all-time 3-3 with the home team sweeping the series each time. Last season, Troy took all three games from Texas State at Riddle-Pace Field.
