6/11/2016 9:37:00 PM | Track & Field
EUGENE, Oregon – Troy sophomore Jaevyn Wortham completed the discus throw at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday and earned NCAA All-American Honorable Mention.
Â
Wortham, one of seven underclassmen in the discus competition, finished 24th with a 47.90-meter toss.Â
Â
"Obviously, the finish was not what Jaevyn or any of us were hoping for," Marc Davis said. However, we are proud of the accomplishments and improvements made throughout the season. She and Coach Clayton set a goal to get to the National Championships, and Jaevyn accomplished the goal. She made the Trojan family proud for representing us here, and this will not be the last time she visits Eugene."
Â
In her first throw of the competition, Wortham tallied the 47.90-meter toss. Her second throw was just a little shorter as it landed at 47.05 meters. Wortham's final throw resulted in a foul.
Â
Two Trojans will represent Troy at the USA Junior National Championships in Clovis, Calif., June 24-26.
