With the all-star break behind us at the major and minor league levels, here is a look at all the current Troy players within professional organizations.
Â
"It's always a pleasure to see former players do well and succeed at the professional level," Mark Smartt said. "Each player has had success at the collegiate level and it has carried over into pro ball. I'm pleased to see their progress and we wish them continued success."
Â
Troy still has two players on major league rosters in Clint Robinson for the Washington Nationals and Chase Whitley for the Tampa Bay Rays.
Â
Robinson is now listed as the everyday first baseman for the Nationals. This season Robinson has five home runs, 19 RBIs and a .216 average for the 2016 season. He hit two of those five home runs in the last seven games.
Â
Whitley, who just came off the 60-day disabled list, is on a rehab assignment with the Charlotte Stone Crabs. He has not pitched during the 2016 season, but looks to be ready to go at the major league level later this season.
Â
TJ Rivera, who was a Pacific Coast League All-Star, has been tearing the cover off the ball at the AAA level. For the season, he is batting a league high .342 with 18 doubles, one triple and eight home runs for the Las Vegas 51s. He has amassed 64 RBIs, which is second on the team. In the Pacific Coast League All-Star Game he went 1-for-3 with a double.
Â
Shane McCain and Trae Santos are both members of the Class A Advanced California League with McCain a member of the High Desert Mavericks and Santos a member of the Lake Elsinore Storm.
Â
McCain has been coming out of the bullpen all season long for the Mavericks. He has a 3.80 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 45 innings pitches this season. He has posted a 3-2 record and has picked up three saves.
Â
Santos is batting .213 with six home runs, four triples and 19 doubles. He has driven in 31 and has walked 34 times. He has posted a .693 on base plus slugging percentage.
Â
