Troy Track and Field Volunteers For Louisiana Victims
9/12/2016 1:24:00 PM | Track & Field
TROY, Alabama - Troy track and field joined their cross country counterparts in 6:00 a.m. training this past week in order to avoid the mid-day heat. On top of the start of team practice, a group of Trojans took time away from their busy schedules to give back to the community.
On Wednesday afternoon a number of volunteers visited Noble Manor Assisted Living and spent time with the residents of the community. The group was composed of former athlete and current volunteer for the program, Cameia Alexander, as well as current athletes Nesha Defoe, Sydney Wright, and Riley Schwietz.
Immediately following their trip to Noble Manor, the Trojans went to the Christian Love Center and loaded up donations for the victims of the recent Louisiana floods to bring over to Davis Field House.
Members of the track and field team assisted athletic department in loading a tractor trailer full of clothing, food, linen and other necessities to be driven to Louisiana that afternoon and distributed to the victims of the floods that have devastated that area.
The team plans on continuing and increasing their community involvement as the year progresses as a means of giving back to those who give the team their love and support.
