Conference Play Begins Monday At South Alabama

MOBILE, Alabama – Sun Belt conference play begins for Troy on Monday with a trip to Mobile, Ala. to take on South Alabama at 7:05 p.m. The game will have a live television broadcast on USAJaguars.com and there will be a live radio call on TroyTrojans.com from Barry McKnight and Jerry Miller.
For the Trojans, the 8-6 record in non-conference play marked the most wins in the non-conference schedule since the 2002-03 season. Troy finished the break with consecutive wins over Cornell and Chicago State to win the Upper Bracket of the Las Vegas Classic.
On top of the trophy, the Trojans had a slew of notable games during the non-conference slate. Troy had two extensive roadtrips, the first of which was capped off with a win at Hawai'I the day after Thanksgiving.
Prior to beating Cornell and Chicago State, the Trojans came close to notching two more notable wins at then No. 24 USC and at Wyoming. Troy led USC with slightly more than a minute left, but eventually fell 82-77.
Troy had a notable experience in Wyoming as there was a power outage throughout Laramie, Wyo. Miday through the first half against the Cowboys for nearly two hours. The Trojans again led for most of the game until Wyoming got the lead with 3:23 remaining and won 72-66.
South Alabama also enters conference play with a winning record. The Jaguars got off to a 5-0 start, which equaled the best start to a season in program history. The last outing for South Alabama was a 92-58 loss at Ole Miss on Dec. 22.
