Trojans Conclude South Carolina Matches

GREENVILLE, South Carolina – The Troy women's tennis team wrapped up their second day of matches on the road in South Carolina, falling to Furman 7-0 at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C
After dropping to the Big South Conference tournament champions Winthrop on Saturday, The Trojans faced a tough Furman team on the road. The Paladins finished last season with a 15-9 record and went undefeated in their conference.
Nancy Karaky and Alicia Rodriguez defeated Katty Weymouth and Katarina Kozarov 6-1 in doubles play, but the Trojans were unable to pick up the opening doubles point as Furman won two of the three matches.
Three of the singles matches came down to three sets. Hannah Seizer fought hard, but ultimately dropped to Weymouth 6-0, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6). Karaky came back in the second set to force a three set match, but fell 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8). After losing a hard fought first set 7-5, Luisa Ferrauti won her second set 6-2. However, she was unable to get the point after dropping the third set.
The Trojans are back on the road on Feb. 12, as they face South Florida in Tampa. The match is set for 11 a.m. CT.
