BATON ROUGE, Louisiana โ Jordan Chunn rushed for 191 yards and Troy forced four LSU turnovers as the Trojans stunned No. 22 LSU, 24-21, in front of more than 99,000 fans Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. The victory was Troy's second ever over a ranked opponent and snapped LSU's 49-game home non-conference winning streak.
ย
Troy (4-1) built a 17-0 lead in the third quarter and sent many of the 99,879 fans in attendance for LSU's Homecoming to the exits of Tiger Stadium early in the fourth quarter as Josh Anderson scored from seven yards out to give the Trojans a 24-7 lead with 8:14 to play.
ย
LSU (3-2) rallied with a pair of Danny Etling touchdown passes, but Troy recovered two on-side kicks and Blace Brown intercepted his eighth career pass to ice the game. Brown also forced a fumble, recorded five tackles and broke up a pass.
ย
The Trojans set the tone early when Cedarius Rookard rocked Darrel Williams on the first play of the game to knock the ball loose. Kris Weatherspoon fell on the loose ball to set Troy up on the LSU 30-yard line. Troy, who scored 14 points off LSU's four turnovers, went down the field on five plays, highlighted by a 16-yard reception by Emanuel Thompson and capped by a 1-yard run from Brandon Silvers to put the Trojans in front early.
ย
Silvers completed 16-of-28 passes for 157 yards with three completions to Deondre Douglas, Emanuel Thompson and Tevaris McCormick. Chunn rushed 30 times in the game to set a new career-high with his 191 yards on the ground.
ย
A balanced Troy defense kept LSU off the scoreboard for the first 41 minutes of the game and became the first defense to hold the Tigers scoreless in an opening half of a non-conference game since 2009.
ย
Freshman Marcus Jones led Troy with eight tackles and recorded the first interception of his career. Rookard also had eight tackles to go along with his forced fumble, while Weatherspoon added seven tackles and Sam Lebbie had five.
ย
Troy took a 10-0 lead into the half after officials pulled both teams out of the locker room. With seven seconds remaining in the half, Silvers completed a 20-yard pass to John Johnson down to the LSU 20-yard line, but the clock operator failed to stop the clock and time expired. After both teams had gone to their locker rooms, replay overturned the ruling and placed two seconds on the clock.
ย
After both teams returned to the field, freshman kicker Evan Legassey booted a 37-yard field goal to give Troy three very important points.
ย
On the second play following the break, Chunn went straight through the heart of LSU's defense for a 74-yard run down to the LSU 1-yard line. It was the longest run of Chunn's career and longest by a Trojan since 2015. Chunn punched it in on fourth-and-goal for his 43rd career touchdown to give Troy a 17-0 lead.

Quotable โ Troy Head Coach Neal Brown
"Huge win, huge win for our program. Very proud of our guys. Some of you follow Troy, some of you don't, but we didn't just start playing football tonight. We've been playing for a long time. We've won three national championships; we've played against the 'who's who's' of college football over the last 15 years and had some wins at our place. We had one quality win at Mississippi State, but we've been knocking on the door for a long time. Two different times in this venue here, 2004 and 2008 we had the opportunity to win the game. Another time at Ohio State, Florida State, Tennessee, and I can go down the list where we've had opportunities. The challenge of this football team is, are we different? We've done a lot of really good things over the last two years. We were ranked in the top 25 at a certain point last year, we won 10 games, we won a bowl game, but are we different. Can we step up and perform for four quarters and play a physical brand of football against a really good team, one of the traditional powerhouses in college football and our guys answered the bell? That wasn't a fluke win. We played physical, we ran the football, we ate up clock, our defense tackled we swarmed to the football and I'm really proud of our guys."
