Need to Know - Troy Football Gameday at The Vet (South Alabama Game)

TROY, Alabama – Fans coming to The Vet this season will continue to enjoy the traditions of Troy gameday, while being treated to some new and improved events around town and campus. Here is a look at what's on tap for Wednesday's nationally televised game on ESPN2 against South Alabama at 7 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to visit TroyTrojans.com/Gameday prior to each visit to campus to see the latest information on parking, traffic flow and tickets for each of Troy's six home games.
Breast Cancer Awareness Day
Troy Athletics and the Troy football team will celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month both on and off the field. The Trojans will wear pink wrist bands and Troy will wear a special decal on the back of their helmets. A pink fire truck and battalion commander's car from the Guardians of the Ribbon (Lower Alabama Chapter) will be in Tailgate Terrace, and fans will have the opportunity to sign the vehicles in support of breast cancer awareness and in honor or memory of loved ones.
Additionally, the Pike County Medical Board will have their annual balloon race launch during Trojan Walk. Balloons will be pink, cardinal and silver to show support for breast cancer awareness and Troy Athletics.
The Troy University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be collecting donations during the second quarter for its annual Bench Out Breast Cancer event that takes place on Oct. 30. The event began in 2015 and Troy Student-Athletes have helped raise over $1,000 for breast cancer research.
Troy Parks & Recreation Day
Youth sport participants and their families will be able to purchase $8 general admission tickets for the game. Tickets can be purchased online at TroyTrojans.com/Tickets using the promo code TroyParksandRec, by calling 877-878-WINS (9467) or by visiting the ticket office in Trojan Arena. Tickets must be purchased by Monday, Oct. 9. Players and coaches will have the opportunity to walk around the field pregame; to participate, you must meet no later than 6 p.m. on the hill outside the main field tunnel into The Vet.
Pregame Concert
Singer-songwriter Kip Traylor will perform a pregame concert in Tailgate Terrace from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a short break for Trojan Walk in between.
Men's Basketball Ring Ceremony
The 2017 Sun Belt Conference champion Troy men's basketball team will receive their championship rings during the game. The Trojans rolled through the Sun Belt Tournament with a trio of double-digit victories before knocking off Texas State in the championship game. Troy squared off against Duke in the NCAA Tournament; the Trojans' first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2003.
Halftime Performances
Troy's Sound of the South Marching Band and the South Alabama Jaguar Marching Band will perform separate halftime shows. Additionally, Miss Troy University MaryBeth Moore, a member of the Sound of the South, will be honored during the game.
Battle for the Belt
One of the most unique rivalry trophies in college football, Troy and South Alabama will square off in the "Battle for the Belt". Wednesday's game marks the third installment of the game with the championship style belt on the line.
Tuesday Pep Rally
Troy Athletics and the Troy SGA will host a pep rally in Trojan Arena on Tuesday prior to the South Alabama game beginning at 6:30 p.m. Trojan Madness, the official kickoff to Troy basketball season, will follow at 6:45 p.m. and a bonfire will conclude the evening.
Trojan Madness
There will plenty of fun for fans as attendees will have the opportunity to take pictures with both the men's and women's Sun Belt Conference championship trophies as well as enjoy free food and prizes and participate in on-court contests and promotions. In addition, all fans who attend Trojan Madness will automatically be entered to win great prizes such as Troy basketball gear, t-shirts, free season tickets and coupons to local restaurants.
Trojan Talk
Troy's weekly radio show with head football coach Neal Brown and "Voice of the Trojans" Barry McKnight will air live from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday on the Troy Sports Radio Network. Fans in Troy can catch the show live at Santa Fe Cattle Company and enjoy half-priced appetizers and drink specials.
Sonic Kids Zone
The Sonic Kids Zone opens at 4 p.m. and is located in the outfield of Riddle-Pace Field. Children of all ages are invited to take part in the fun with free inflatables until 6:30 p.m.
Trojan Walk
Troy's traditional pre-game march into Veterans Memorial Stadium, Trojan Walk, will begin at the intersection of University Avenue and George Wallace Drive. The Trojans will walk through the brick portal into Tailgate Terrace before entering the stadium at Gate 1. Trojan Walk will begin at 4:45 p.m. for the South Alabama game.
Troy Sports Radio Network Pregame Show
Join "Voice of the Trojans" Barry McKnight, game analyst Jerry Miller and sideline reporter Chris Blackshear live from the Troy University Alumni House from 5-6 p.m. for the first hour of the Troy Sports Radio Network Pregame Show.
Tailgating with the Trojans
Troy's new "Tailgating with the Trojans" show will be hosted by Troy University graduate Melanie Newman. The show, which will be released following a home game via Troy's social media accounts, will highlight all of the great tailgating that takes place during Troy football games.
ScreenTech Stadium Store
Fans can purchase the latest in Troy gear from the ScreenTech Stadium Store located in Tailgate Terrace right outside of Gate One beginning at 3 p.m. and inside The Vet once gates to the stadium open at 5:30 p.m.
Guardian Credit Union Fan Zone
New this season is the Guardian Credit Union Fan Zone located in Tailgate Terrace. Fans will have the opportunity to receive free T-shirts, water, fans, Troy face tattoos and koozies. Guardian Credit Union will also be on hand for fans to sign up for Troy University debit and credit cards.
In-Game Host
Troy University graduate Melanie Newman enters her first year as the on-field emcee for Troy football games. Newman has experience working with Major League Baseball, the Arizona Fall League, the Mobile BayBears and the ACC Network.
Student Promotions
The first 2,000 Troy University students inside The Vet on Wednesday will receive free rally towels courtesy of Guardian Credit Union.
