Troy Prepares For Home Opener On Thursday

TROY, Alabama – Troy men's basketball returns from the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Hawai'I looking to pick up the second win on the season in the home opener against Brewton-Parker on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The home opener will provide the Trojans the opportunity to continue both the team and individual momentum displayed during Troy's opening three games. Jordon Varnado was named to the Rainbow Classic All-Tournament Team after posting 60 points in three games.

Wesley Person mirrored Varnado's productivity by also scoring in double-digits in all three games. The senior broke two school records over the weekend for most 3-pointers in school history by reaching 276 in his career and the Troy Division I scoring record by eclipsing 1,534 career points.

Troy's margin of defeat in the two losses was just eight points. Geno Crandall exploded for North Dakota for 41 points on Friday and iced the game with three free throws with three seconds remaining.

Troy rallied all the way back from a 15-point second-half deficit against Hawai'I on Monday to force overtime, but ended up falling in the final minutes in a game dictated by a combined 42 foul calls.

• Freshman Javan Johnson recorded the first double-digit scoring game of his career in just his second-ever game with 13 points against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

• Troy held Hawai'I to just one point in the final 5:07 of regulation before Jordon Varnado forced overtime with a 3-pointer with five seconds remaining.
