Troy Remains Home With UIC On Wednesday

TROY, Ala. – After a dominating victory in Trojan Arena on Monday against Delaware State, Troy will have a quick turnaround with another home contest against UIC on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
It will mark the end of the Adolph Rupp Classic, which began on Nov. 20 with an away game against No. 8 Kentucky. Since dropping that game 70-62 after a furious late rally, Troy has gone 2-0 since to go above .500 for the first time this season.
Monday's game saw Troy shoot season-highs both from the field at 64.7 percent (33-51) and from three at 50 percent (13-26). Wesley Person again led the way with a game-high 22 points on 8-10 shooting.
Jordon Varnado, the team's leading scorer and rebounder, was a late scratch due to a foot injury. With Varnado's return up in the air, it was up to forwards Shawn Hopkins, Alex Hicks and Juan Davis, Jr., to carry the load.
All three succeeded as all three had 15 points or more with Hopkins and Davis, Jr., reaching season-highs with 16 points each. Hicks led all players with eight rebounds on the night.
UIC has gone 2-3 this season with Wednesday's game being just the second away game of the year after the Flames lost 107-73 to Kentucky on Sunday. Troy and UIC have never met before.
