Troy Football Lands 14 on Initial Day of Early Signing Period

TROY, Alabama – Sun Belt Conference champion Troy took full advantage of the NCAA's new early signing period inking 14 players to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Head coach Neal Brown and his staff landed nine players from the state of Alabama with an overall balance in the class of nine high school players and five junior college transfers.
Troy, which finished the year 11-2 with a New Orleans Bowl title, focused heavily in the trenches with four offensive linemen and five defensive linemen signed during the early period. The Trojans added single players at quarterback, running back, linebacker, cornerback and safety.
The Trojans top-rated defense added elite talent in KJ Robertson from Thompson High School, the Alabama MVP at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game, and one of the top defensive ends in the junior college ranks in Jarvis Hayes. The Trojans also inked the nation's 23rd ranked pro-style quarterback in Butler, Ga., product Gunnar Watson and one of the top JUCO running backs in the country in Kevin Perkins from Northwest Mississippi Community College.
The Trojans also landed Georgia 6A first team all-state bandit Antonio Showers from Tucker High School in addition to one of the top 50 players in the state of Alabama in Stanhope Elmore offensive lineman Jake Andrews.
Brown has guided Troy to a 22-5 record over its last 27 games dating back to the 2015 season and Troy's current seven-game winning streak is the fourth-longest active streak in the country.
Troy's signing class is currently the highest rated on 247 Sports with an average rating of 80.99 per player. This comes one season after the Trojans signed the top class in the Sun Belt according to Rivals.
