Troy Football Sets Spring Dates; T-Day Scheduled for April 15

TROY, Alabama – Fresh off the nation's best turnaround, the first 10-win season in the school's FBS history and a victory in the Dollar General Bowl, the Troy football team will open spring practice on March 16, head coach Neal Brown announced Thursday.

The Trojans will scrimmage twice during the spring leading up to T-Day on April 15 at 12 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Stadium. Troy's annual Friday Night Lights scrimmage will take place on March 31 at 7 p.m. in the Vet and the second scrimmage will take place on April 8 in conjunction with Alumni Weekend.

"We took a big step forward last season in rebuilding this program," Brown said. "We have celebrated those accomplishments, have continued to make progress in our offseason program, and now we are excited about getting back on the practice field."

Troy is coming off a 10-3 season in which the Trojans became the first team in Sun Belt Conference history to earn a spot in either the Associated Press or Coaches Top 25 poll. Troy earned a No. 25 ranking in the AP Top 25 after becoming the first Sun Belt team to open a season 8-1.

The Trojans' six-win improvement from the 2015 season tied for the best turnaround in the country – Troy and Colorado were the only schools nationally to win at least 10 games with a six-win turnaround.

Troy opens the 2017 season with a highly anticipated matchup at Boise State on Sept. 2. The remainder of Troy's non-conference schedule features home games against Alabama State (Sept. 9) and Akron (Sept. 23) and a trip to LSU (Sept. 30). The Sun Belt Conference is expected to release the league schedule on March 1.
