TROY, Alabama – The All Sports Association in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., has honored Troy senior Lauren Day with the Female Collegiate award, the association announced this week.
Â
"I was definitely a surprise," Day said of the award. "It's an honor to have been considered and to be included in a banquet with so many great athletes and coaches."
Â
Day, a Pensacola Fla., native played prep basketball at Choctawhatchee High School where she led the Indians to a combined 56-3 record over junior and senior seasons. As a Trojan, Day has played in more than 80 games, including starts in 20 of 21 games as a senior.
Â
The All Sports Association serves the Northwest Florida area and its annual awards banquet honors the area's top high school, collegiate, amateur, professional and Special Olympic athletes. This year's banquet will be held on Friday, but due to Troy's road trip to play ULM and UL Lafayette on Thursday and Saturday, Day will be unable to attend.
Â
A global studies major with a concentration in marketing, Day has made the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll twice. On the court, Day scored a career-high 14 points at Nicholls this season and has turned in three double-digit performances this season.
