Troy to Close Out Tournament Play at No. 13 LSU

TROY, Alabama- The Troy softball team travels to Baton Rouge, La., to compete in its last tournament of the season hosted by SEC powerhouse No. 13 LSU. The Trojans will take on No. 10 Minnesota on Friday at 10 a.m., Illinois State and Illinois on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and will close out the tournament on Sunday against Illinois and host team LSU at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Troy (10-7) is coming off a split mid-week double header against the Florida A&M Rattlers. Troy took the first game 4-0, but fell to the Rattlers in game two 6-5.

Kaylee Hussey leads the team with a .356 average after starting 16-of -17 games behind the plate as catcher. Â Senior Becca Hartley is close behind with a .353 average after posting 18 hits, 18 runs and team-highs 16 RBIs and six home runs.

In the circle for the Trojans, Claire Graves and Rachel Rigney Brown have combined for a 9-4 record. Graves has pitched 52.2 innings with 18 strikeouts earning a 2.92 ERA and Rigney has put in 46.1 innings of work with 21 strikeouts with an ERA of 2.87.

SCOUTING REPORT
Troy is 0-2 all time against Minnesota. Their last meeting was in 2014 as the Gophers pulled out a 4-2 win over the Trojans in Conway, S.C.

This will be the first meeting between Troy, Illinois and Illinois State, while the Trojans look to get its first win against LSU. LSU currently has an 0-7 advantage on the series. The last meeting between the Trojans and the Tigers was in 2012 as the LSU got a close 1-0 win over Troy in Baton Rouge.

Following the LSU Tournament, Troy will travel to Mississippi State for a Tuesday night match up against the Bulldogs at 6 p.m.
