Troy Travels to Alabama for Mid-Week Showdown

TROY, Alabama – The Troy baseball team hits the road once again, this time to Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., for a mid-week tilt against Alabama on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.; the game will be broadcast live on SEC Network+.

The Trojans (6-5) enter Tuesday's contest looking to bounce back from a pair of close losses at the Cox Diamond Invitational over the weekend in Pensacola. Troy defeated Seton Hall in the opener of the round robin event, before falling to South Alabama and Southeastern Louisiana in the final two games by a combined three runs.

A pair of sophomores are riding hitting streaks for the Trojans as second baseman Brandon Lockridge has hit safely in all 11 games this season, while catcher Chase Smartt has hit safely in six straight games and is batting .419 over the past eight games. Trevor Davis led the Trojans over the weekend as he hit .700 (7-for-10) with four runs scored and a pair of RBIs.

Senior southpaw Austin Crook (1-0, 2.70) will get the start on the mound for the Trojans. He struck out four and allowed just two runs on five hits at UAB last Tuesday in his first appearance since May, 21, 2015.

Alabama (6-5) is coming off a three-game sweep of ULM after the Crimson Tide entered the series having lost five of their previous six games. Cobie Vance leads Alabama batting at a .432 clip on the season, while Chandler Taylor leads the Tide with five home runs and 11 RBIs. Sophomore right-hander Brock Love (1-1, 4.05) is scheduled to make the start on the mound.
