TROY, Alabama – Troy travels to Montgomery for just its third mid-week road game of the season as the Trojans square off against Alabama State at the Wheeler-Watkins Complex on Tuesday; first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live on the Troy Sports Radio Network with online coverage at TroyTrojans.com; there will not be any live video available.
The Trojans (16-14) are coming off a 4-0 victory over Georgia Southern on Sunday which salvaged a game in the three-game Sun Belt series. Junior right-hander Andrew Crane was magnificent on the mound with 8.1 scoreless innings, while Matt Sanders and Brandon Lockridge provided a pair of hits each to pace the bats.
Lockridge leads the Trojans batting at a .339 clip and is second with a .393 on-base percentage. Troy's sophomore second baseman has hit safely in 15 consecutive games and has reached base safely in all 30 of Troy's contests. Trevor Davis enters the week with six doubles and 12 RBIs over the past six games, while Sanders has 13 hits in his last 32 at-bats with nine RBIs.
Troy has enjoyed success in the mid-week this season with victories over Alabama, UAB and Samford; the Trojans lone mid-week setback was a 4-3 decision at Samford.
Senior right-hander Houston Mabray (1-1, 4.70) will make his first appearance since making the start at Samford on March 22. Mabray has allowed three of fewer earned runs in 10 of his 15 career starts, including three this season.
Alabama State (17-15) has won 10 straight games with nine of those coming in SWAC play. The Hornets are 4-13 in non-conference games this season, but do have a pair of mid-week wins over UAB and Ohio.
Sophomore right-hander Terrell McCall (1-3, 6.83) is scheduled to make the start for Alabama State. Offensively, the Hornets are led by Cage Cox's .384 batting average and Gustavo Rios' five home runs.
