Troy Softball Hosts No. 2 Florida State

TROY, Alabama- For the first time in Troy softball history, the Trojans will face the No. 2 ranked team in the nation as they host Florida State for a midweek doubleheader on Tuesday, April 18. Game one is set for 4 p.m. at the Troy Softball Complex. Admission to the game is free.
Troy (17-27) is coming off of a 12-2 run-rule victory over ULM on Saturday where Becca Hartley and Jordan Gray each blasted a grand slam to lead the Trojans. Troy dropped the series to the Warhawks as ULM picked up two wins on Friday.
Hartley leads the Trojans at the plate with a .351 average. She has hit a team and career high 15 home runs this season, and now has 38 career homers. She also leads the team with 38 runs, 39 RBIs, 47 hits, two triples and a slugging percentage of .784.
Prior to Tuesday's latest's NCAA rankings being announced, Florida State is the No. 1 team in the nation, but it fell in two back-to-back games last week to No. 3 Florida and South Carolina. Prior to the losses last week, the Seminoles won 24 straight games.
Florida State leads the nation in batting average with a .363 at the plate. They are third in the nation in scoring posting 7.44 runs per game.
Jessica Warren leads the Seminoles with with a .456 batting average through 43 games played. She also leads with 15 home runs, 55 RBIs and a 1.000 slugging percentage. In the circle for Florida State, Jessica Burroughs has a 0.77 ERA with a 20-2 record. She has recorded 193 strikeouts through 127.1 innings of work.
NOTEWORTHY
• The highest ranked team the Trojans have faced was No. 2 Alabama in 2007 and 2008.
• Troy is 12-25-1 all time against Florida State. Their last meeting was in in 2015 when the Trojans defeated the No. 10 ranked Seminoles 6-4 on the road.
• Jordan Gray hit her third career home run and first grand slam in Troy's last game against ULM. Hartley hit her second grand slam of the season and third of her career in Troy' win.
• The last time Troy hit two grand slams in a single game was in 2013 as the Trojans defeated FIU 14-9.
• Hartley is one home run shy of tying Hannah Day's third place single season record for Troy with 16 homers. She has tied Heidi Johnson in the third place spot with 38 career home runs. Hartley only needs four more on the year to take solo possession of second place.

The 2017 Sun Belt women's basketball championship team will be recognized prior to the game and will throw out the first pitch.
