TROY, Alabama – There was a lot to celebrate on the field during the 2016 Troy football season, but those who packed the stands at The Vet should also be celebrated after setting records and helping Troy rank among the nation's best in improved attendance.
On the field, the Trojans posted the best turnaround in the country, an Associated Press Top 25 ranking, the first 10-win season in the school's FBS history and a Dollar General Bowl title. Troy fans responded by setting a Veterans Memorial Stadium record for total attendance (135,203) and single-game average attendance (22,534).
"We are very thankful for the amazing support from our fans both at The Vet and on the road," head coach Neal Brown said. "Our fans played a huge part in our success, especially the victories over Appalachian State and South Alabama. I want to challenge our fan base to break the record again this upcoming season and sell out the stadium when we host Alabama State in the home opener."
Troy improved its single-game attendance by an average of 3,135 fans per game – a 17 percent increase – from the 2015 to the 2016 season, which marked the 23rd-largest increase in the country. Additionally, three of the top-10 attended games in stadium history came during the 2016 season – Appalachian State (25,782), Georgia State (23,913) and Arkansas State (23,764).
2017 season tickets with various pricing levels beginning at only $60 for the Trojans' six home games, including contests against in-state foes Alabama State and South Alabama, are now on sale. Fans can purchase tickets by calling 877-878-WINS, by CLICKING HERE or by visiting the ticket office in Trojan Arena.
