TROY, Alabama – After a thrilling walk-off victory over Alabama on Tuesday, the Troy baseball team welcomes Georgia Southern to Riddle-Pace Field for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series this weekend. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday; all three games will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
Tickets can be purchased by CLICKING HERE or by calling 877-878-WINS. Troy Alumni Association members can purchase $5 general admission tickets to all three games by showing their membership card at the Riddle-Pace Field Ticket Office.
Troy (15-12, 4-5 Sun Belt) rallied from an 11-9 deficit against Alabama with two runs in the eighth and Matt Sanders' walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to win 12-11; it was Troy's fourth win in its last five tries against Alabama at Riddle-Pace Field.
Sanders was a likely hero for the Trojans as he is now batting .441 (15-for-34) over the past eight games with nine RBIs; he went 3-for-5 with two RBIs against the Tide. The Trojans also received solid production from senior right fielder Trevor Davis who collected a pair of doubles and drove in five runs; Davis is batting .500 (6-for-12) with four doubles and nine RBIs over the last three games.
Tuesday's 12-run outburst marked the second straight game the Trojans hung double-digits in the run column after having done so just twice in the previous 25 games. Even more impressive is that the majority of those runs came against the backend of both the UT Arlington and Alabama bullpens as Troy scored 18 of the 25 runs from the sixth inning on.
Head coach Mark Smartt will roll out the same pitching rotation for the second straight weekend. Right-hander Daren Osby (4-2, 4.23) will get the call in the opener Friday, while southpaw Austin Crook (4-0, 3.15) will go Saturday and right-hander Andrew Crane (0-1, 2.84) will start Sunday.
Georgia Southern (18-11, 5-4) has won its two straight league series over ULM and UT Arlington after dropping two-of-three to open league play at South Alabama – the Eagles come to town having won eight of their last 10 games.
Steven Curry leads Georgia Southern at the dish batting at a .347 clip, while Ryan Cleveland provides the power with 11 doubles and six home runs.
