Seven Trojans Qualify for NCAA East Preliminaries

TROY, Alabama – Troy outdoor track and field will be well represented at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Lexington, Ky., as seven different Trojans qualified for eight different events; the meet will be held May 25-27.
The Trojans are sending seven athletes to the Prelims for the second year in a row, which is also the most since 2013 when eight athletes qualified.
Corina Wieser-Cox is making her fourth consecutive appearance in the discus throw event at the Prelims. In 2015, Cox earned NCAA Second Team All-America honors after finishing sixth on her way to qualifying for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Sun Belt Discus Champion Zach Douglas, senior Myles Charley and two-time Sun Belt Male Athlete of the Week Hakim Montgomery will each be making their second trip to the meet. Douglas qualified in both the discus and shot put events, Charley in the long jump and Montgomery in the 100-meter dash.
Rounding out the host of Trojans that qualified are Michael Alvernaz in the hammer throw, Connor Brookman in the javelin throw and freshman Titus Sizemore in the high jump event. Sizemore is Troy's third freshman in the last four years to advance to the Prelims.
