Troy Set for Rematch with No. 26 South Alabama in Sun Belt Tournament

TROY, Alabama – Troy baseball is set to face in-state rival No. 26 South Alabama for its opening round matchup in the Sun Belt Baseball Championship Wednesday. All tournament games will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and Troy fans can listen along live HERE or on WTBF 94.7 FM.

The game is still officially scheduled for 8 a.m. (CT) on Wednesday. However, Tuesday's single-elimination games were postponed due to rain and the Sun Belt has not determined an updated schedule.

First team All-Sun Belt selections Andrew Crane and Brandon Lockridge will lead the charge as Troy (31-24, 16-14) looks to bounce back against the Jaguars (36-19, 22-8) and advance into the winners' bracket of the double-elimination tournament.

The Trojans head into the tournament after a series loss to the Jags in Mobile this past weekend. It will be the fifth time that the rivals have faced off this season – the two met in the Cox Diamond Invitational in Pensacola before the three-game conference series.

Troy designated hitter Brody Binder was nearly unstoppable at the plate in the three-game set – batting 7-for-12 (.583) with two homers, six RBIs and a 1.666 OPS. The Trojans exploded for five homers in the series – Binder (2), Matt Sanders (1), Chase Smartt (1) and Trevor Davis (1) – which is the most in any one weekend this season.

Crane (6-1, 0.93) – Sun Belt's Newcomer of the Year – will get the call for the start in the opening round game for coach Mark Smartt and the Trojans. He is currently amongst a Troy and Sun Belt record 39.2 consecutive scoreless innings streak.

No. 26 South Alabama had five All-Sun Belt selections and are led offensively by Travis Swaggerty – who leads the team in batting average, RBIs and stolen bases. The Jags will send RHP Avery Geyer (2-2, 5.82) to the mound for the opening round start.
