Troy’s Hakim Montgomery Named Sun Belt Track Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – Troy sprinter Hakim Montgomery was named Sun Belt Male Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Montgomery, a sophomore from Temple, Ga., ran a time of 10.22 seconds in the 100-meter dash at the historic Penn Relays Carnival last weekend. His time was good enough for fourth place amongst a field loaded with some of the best track athletes from around the country.
The 10.22-second time is currently tied for third place in the conference, 15th in the NCAA Division-I East Qualifying Region and tied for 28th nationally. Hakim was also a part of the 4x100-meter relay team that finished sixth at the competition.
The award is Montgomery's second player of the week honor this year – he won Male Track Athlete of the Week during the indoor season after breaking the school record in the 60-meter sprint.
The outdoor squad will hit the track again on May 12-14 for the Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Arlington, Texas.
