TROY, Alabama – Troy's all-time winningest baseball coach, Bobby Pierce, will be inducted into the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame August 12 in Dothan.
A native of Marianna, Fla., Pierce coached at Troy from 2003 to 2015 and won 450 games while leading the Trojans to four conference championships and four NCAA Regional berths.

"This is my first induction since I retired," Pierce told Ken Rogers of the Dothan Eagle. "There's a different perspective. The first two came while I was still coaching. This time, I've just been able to sit back and reflect on the true meaning of this honor. It's been another level. I've felt much more of everything – humility, honor and appreciation – due to the fact that I'm not worried about throwing the next strike or getting the next two-out hit."
"Coach Pierce capped off a great baseball career here at Troy as the head coach and I was fortunate to be with him for the entire 13 years," Pierce's former assistant and current Troy baseball coach Mark Smartt said. "He retired with the most wins in school history which is a testament to his ability as a coach. He impacted every player he coached and every coach that worked with him in a positive way. He deserves this recognition as much as any coach I have ever known."
In his time at Troy, he coached 15 All-Americans and had 28 players sign professional contracts. He also coached 42 all-conference selections, four Pitchers of the Year (2005, 2006, 2011, 2013), two Players of the Year (2005, 2011), one Newcomer of the Year (2007) and two Freshmen of the Year (2009 & 2014).
Pierce was a head coach for 27 seasons and won 985 games and 14 conference titles at Chipola Junior College, Alabama-Huntsville – where he started the program – and Troy.
The 25th Annual Induction Ceremony will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center in Dothan. Tickets are $50 and must be purchased in advance by contacting Janna Everett at 334-701-9938.
