Roberson Tabbed Preseason All-Sun Belt

TROY, Alabama – Troy senior Haley Roberson was selected as one of 11 players on the 2017 Preseason All-Sun Belt Team chosen by the league's coaches and announced on Wednesday.

Roberson is a two-time All-Sun Belt selection being named to the second team in both 2015 and 2016. The Burke, Va., native has started all 40 games in her Trojan career since transferring from Auburn. She played 1,597 minutes last season and led the team with four assists. Roberson burst onto the Sun Belt scene as a redshirt sophomore in 2015 when she anchored a back line that posted a 0.63 goal against average, the best mark in school history.

Troy was picked to finish fifth in the Sun Belt Preseason Poll. Three-time Sun Belt Conference Tournament champion South Alabama edged Coastal Carolina for the top spot, while Little Rock and Appalachian State were slotted third and fourth, respectively.

The Trojans open the 2017 regular season at home against Mercer on Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. The game marks the beginning of the Ged O'Connor era, who took over the program in January. Troy travels to face South Florida in an exhibition game on Saturday at 4 p.m.
