Need to Know – Troy Football Gameday at The Vet

TROY, Alabama – Fans coming to The Vet this season will continue to enjoy the traditions of Troy gameday, while being treated to some new and improved events around town and campus.
Fans are encouraged to visit TroyTrojans.com/Gameday prior to each visit to campus to see the latest information on parking, traffic flow and tickets for each of Troy's six home games.
One of the main new additions to gameday is a pregame concert in Tailgate Terrace prior to the Alabama State, South Alabama and Idaho games. Halle Nolan from Birmingham, Ala., will kick off the concert series on Saturday. While only 13-years old, Halle has performed at numerous different venues and events including The Listening Room, Troy Fest, Tootsies, SEC Fan Fest, CMA Fan Fest and the Tin Roof in Nashville. The concert begins at 2 p.m. in Tailgate Terrace and continues until 4:30 p.m. with a short break for Trojan Walk in between.
Thursday Pep Rally
Troy Athletics and the Troy SGA will host a pep rally in The Vet on Thursday prior to the Alabama State game beginning at 5:30 p.m. The pep rally is open to all, and Troy University students are asked to enter through the main entrance and sit in the student section.
The pep rally will feature the Sound of the South, Troy Cheerleaders, T-Roy and head football coach Neal Brown. The Troy SGA will present the Spirit Stick to the Troy student organization deemed to have the most school spirit at the pep rally.
Trojan Talk
Troy's weekly radio show with head football coach Neal Brown and "Voice of the Trojans" Barry McKnight airs live from 6 to 7 p.m. on the Troy Sports Radio Network. Fans in Troy can catch the show live at Santa Fe Cattle Company and enjoy half-priced appetizers and drink specials.
Friday Night Concert on the Square
Hosted by Downtown Troy and Troy University's Sorrell College of Business, The Park Band will perform live on Friday, Sept. 8, from 7-10 p.m. For more information and the complete Friday Night Concert on the Square schedule visit Facebook.com/DowntownTroy.
Sonic Kids Zone
The Sonic Kids Zone opens at 1 p.m. and is located in the outfield of Riddle-Pace Field. Children of all ages are invited to take part in the fun with free inflatables until 4:30 p.m. Additionally, all members of T-Roy's Team will also be able to check in and receive their membership packets and t-shirts. Those that are unable to come by will have their packets mailed to them at a later date.
Trojan Walk
Troy's traditional pre-game march into Veterans Memorial Stadium, Trojan Walk, will begin at the intersection of University Avenue and George Wallace Drive. The Trojans will walk through the brick portal into Tailgate Terrace before entering the stadium at Gate 1. Trojan Walk will begin at 2:45 p.m. for the Alabama State game and will feature the returning Troy football letterwinners.
Troy Sports Radio Network Pregame Show
Join "Voice of the Trojans" Barry McKnight, game analyst Jerry Miller and sideline reporter Chris Blackshear live from the Troy University Alumni House from 3-4 p.m. for the first hour of the Troy Sports Radio Network Pregame Show.
Tailgating with the Trojans
Troy's new "Tailgating with the Trojans" show will be hosted by Troy University graduate Melanie Newman. The show, which will be released every Tuesday following a home game via Troy's social media accounts, will highlight all of the great tailgating that takes place during Troy football games.
Guardian Credit Union Fan Zone
New this season is the Guardian Credit Union Fan Zone located in Tailgate Terrace. Fans will have the opportunity to receive free T-shirts, water, fans, Troy face tattoos and koozies. Guardian Credit Union will also be on hand for fans to sign up for Troy University debit and credit cards.
In-Game Host
Troy University graduate Melanie Newman enters her first year as the on-field emcee for Troy football games. Newman has experience working with Major League Baseball, the Arizona Fall League, the Mobile BayBears and the ACC Network.
Student Promotions
The first 500 Troy University students inside The Vet on Saturday will receive free Troy sunglasses courtesy of Guardian Credit Union.
