TROY, Alabama- Peyton Glover had another solid outing in the circle as the Trojans continued to look strong on day two of the Troy Classic. Troy (3-0) took down the Valparaiso Crusaders (2-2), with help from freshman Bailey Taylor bringing in four RBI.

Both teams remained scoreless through four innings of play, until Troy broke out in the fifth inning putting up three runs off of four hits. Sophomore Logan Calhoun and senior Erica Davis got the party started with back-to-back singles, while Carli Kayler juiced the bases reaching on a Valpo error, allowing Calhoun to get across the plate.

Taylor stepped into the box and put a ground ball up the middle to get on base and bring in two more runs, before the Crusaders were able to get out of the inning.

Troy picked up where it left off in the sixth inning putting up four more runs. Calhoun got back on base with a walk and Davis followed with a double. Another Crusader error allowed Calhoun to score. Taylor came in clutch with a two-RBI double. Katie Webb also got in on the action, scoring Brooke Echols from third to give the Trojans their final 7-0 lead.

The defense continued to impress as they held their opponent scoreless for the second straight game.

After a career-night on Friday, Glover returned to the circle striking out four batters and only allowing one walk. Annie Willis made her career debut in the circle in the seventh inning as she faced four batters tossing two strikeouts and one walk.

NOTEWORTHY

Erica Davis leads the squad with .667 average with four hit in six at-bats' Webb remains the team leader in hits with six and a .909 slugging percentage.
Glover now has 14 strikeouts in two games, after earning 10 Friday night. Her previous career high was four that she posted multiple times.
Troy starts the season 3-0 for the first time since 2016.
The Trojans have outscored their opponents 23-1 in the first three games of the season.

Due to inclement weather, the remainder of Saturday's games have been canceled. The updated schedule for the Troy Classis will be announced as soon as possible.
