TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's golf team opens its spring schedule at The Dickson this week in a 17-team field, including four teams in the top-25. Play was scheduled to open with 36 holes on Monday at the Woodlands Country Club before concluding with 18 holes on Tuesday; however, rain washed away Monday's round and teams will now play 18 holes only on Tuesday.
Troy ended the fall on a high note with a fifth-place finish at the Idle Hour Collegiate behind a trio of top-25 finishes from Sarah Harrison, Bianca Lohbauer and Lindsey Harrison. Sarah Harrison led Troy with a 75.42 stroke average in the fall, was the Trojans' top finisher in three of their four events and was the lone Troy golfer to have all 12 rounds count towards the team card.
"We played pretty respectable in the fall," head coach Randy Keck said. "By no means did we play our best, but we addressed a lot of issues at the end of the fall and had a fantastic offseason. We needed to address our fitness and get stronger, so we could be longer off the tee and I think we did that. I'm looking forward to seeing how we play in the spring."
Lindsey Harrison was close behind her teammate with a 77.08 fall stroke average and with 10-of-12 rounds counting towards the card; she tied with Sarah Harrison and Lohbauer with a pair of top-25 finishes.
"This golf course is going to be an endurance test," Keck said. "It's been raining a lot leading into the event and our practice round got rained out today. There are not going to be a lot of birdies on the course and we just need to understand that there are going to be a lot of bogeys by the entire field. We have to limit our mistakes and not take any sevens or eights."
Eva Fabricius-Bjerre saw 11 of her 12 cards count towards the team score as she finished the fall with a 77.33 stroke average, while Lohbauer posted a 77.58 mark in the fall with a pair of rounds under par. Antonia Poate rounds out the lineup for Keck after recording an 80.0 scoring average over 12 rounds in the fall.
